Our very own, Hannah Southworth, PA to the Chairman and Managing Director here at Portergate Management, competed in the St Catherine’s Moonlight and Memories Walk last weekend, Saturday 1st July.
St Catherine’s help provide good quality of life to people with terminal illnesses and when the time comes, comfort and dignity in death.
The famous night time walk raised an incredible £80,000 in total from the 1,000 supporters who took part for St Catherine’s Hospice in Preston. The route was in and around Preston through Lostock Hall, Bamber Bridge, Penwortham and the City Centre.
Hannah comments, “I’ve completed it 3 times before, so this was my 4th year. Usually it starts at midnight and used to be only for women, walking 13 miles in our St Catherine’s pink and purple t-shirts. This year however, it was poignant as it was the 10th year anniversary so hence only 1o miles and both women and men were able to get involved – as well as dogs! Also this year, there was a 4-mile family friendly route for people that wanted to join in but couldn’t make the 10 miles.”
Hannah and all her family are from Preston St Catherine’s Hospice is nearby and is their most local charity. “It’s a beautiful place and we love to visit the café there, The Mill – all of the staff are volunteers and the cakes are amazing! All profits raised through the café go back to supporting the specialised care of St Catherine’s Hospice” Hannah enthuses.
