Grand additions at Riverside

By | General News, Uncategorised | No Comments

It’s been a summer of new arrivals at Portergate Property Management – and not just at its acclaimed Riverside House student accommodation in Salford.

Managing Director Karen Preece and Chairman Anthony Jackson have welcomed three new grandchildren. And all of them arrived in July!

Edward John Jones, known as Ted, is Karen’s third grandson. Born on July 25 to Michelle and Steve he weighted in a 7lb 11oz and is younger brother to three-year-old Henry.

Meanwhile Anthony has become “a youthful granddad” again with two additions to the family. Viola Mary arrived on July 4 to Sophie and Dan and weighed in at 6lb 11oz.

The final new appearance of the summer was Martha Sophia, who was born on July 17 to proud mum and dad Hannah and Tom. She is sister to George, who is nearly three.

All are doing well, and as our picture shows, have put a smile on the faces of the proud grandparents!

Summer was no holiday for Portergate’s Riverside team

Portergate Property Management has spent a busy summer successfully marketing its luxury Riverside House student accommodation in Salford.

The stylish £18 million building on the banks of the River Irwell has been a big success since opening its doors to students last year.

And the Portergate team has been building on that success with a major summer marketing campaign aimed at attracting students from across the globe as they look to start their academic careers in Salford and Manchester at the start of the 2014/15 term.

The campaign included a series of open weekends throughout August which gave students and their parents the opportunity to see what Riverside House is about and all it offers to its tenants.

The open events took place every weekend throughout the month and details were published on both the Portergate and Riverside House websites.

As well as that initiative 4,000 leaflets have been distributed in popular student venues across Manchester and Salford – again raising awareness of Riverside House and its quality boutique feel.

Portergate also launched a mailshot through UCAS – the organisation responsible for managing applications to higher education courses in the UK.

And, as it looks to build on the success of its links with overseas students, the Portergate marketing team has also been contacting foreign embassies to raise the Riverside House profile even higher.

Closer to home, a large banner on the landmark Hemsley House building, near Salford University’s campus, also puts the Riverside House name in front of the thousands of students and commuters that pass by every day.

It all added up to a busy summer of activity for Portergate as it builds the Portergate brand in Manchester and Salford.

Karen Preece, managing director of Portergate Property Management, says: “We put together a major marketing campaign which ran throughout the summer highlighting the major advantages Riverside House delivers to its tenants.

“Our aim has been to get our message out to students and parents as they looked to make the important decisions about their university careers. It has been a well thought out and carefully targeted strategy and it is already delivering results.

“A key plank of that strategy was our open days – a chance for people to get a real look at Riverside House; the vibe, the quality and the security that make it such a fantastic place for students to live. It is a compelling offer.”

She added: “Coupled with that, our message highlights the high standard of service that we bring to the student accommodation sector in Manchester and Salford.”

The organisation helps thousands of students find privately rented accommodation each year; provides housing advice and raises awareness of off campus issues.

Portergate Property Management now has exclusive access to advertising and promotion through the only source of university approved accommodation, including one of the most successful student accommodation websites for the Manchester and Salford market.

Karen Preece, managing director of Portergate Property Management, says: “Manchester Student Homes is now promoting Riverside House as one of the best providers of larger, purpose built student accommodation in Manchester and Salford.

“It operates one of the most successful student accommodation websites for the Manchester and Salford market.

“It also recognises Portergate Property Management as a reliable landlord which deals openly, honestly and respectfully with students.”

Manchester Student Homes is the only housing service recommended by The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, The University of Salford, The Royal Northern College of Music and The Manchester College.

Thousands of students visit www.manchesterstudenthomes.com each month and its website is one of the most successful in the local student lettings market.

Manchester Student Homes is the only housing service promoted on campus and its staff attend open days, accommodation fairs and events throughout the academic year.

Half a million happy students!

Half a million happy students!

The total number of people going to university could top half a million for the first time, following the announcement of this year’s A level results.

As students open their results, university admission service UCAS has revealed more of them than ever before have already secured a place on a degree course.

Its figures reveal 396,990 students have already been accepted onto UK undergraduate courses, up 11,090 (3%) on last year.

And 352,590 students – an increase of 2% -have secured their first choice of course.

On results day there were still 103,970 students awaiting results or decisions, 5% more than this time last year.

Mary Curnock Cook, UCAS Chief Executive, said: “The numbers are a reflection of the continuing strong demand for higher education.

“A combination of extra places available and the falling population of 18-year-olds means that students are in a good position to secure a place this year.”

“Alongside the impressive numbers, this is also a story about individuals who have made a life-defining decision to invest in their personal growth and position themselves for a more fulfilling life and career.”

The UCAS website has all the information that students need to be fully prepared, whatever grades they achieve. The list of courses with vacancies in Clearing is now live.

Helen Thorne, Director of Policy and Research at UCAS said “There’ll be thousands of courses available in Clearing this year – perhaps in subjects students might not have necessarily considered, and the scheme remains open until the end of September.

“Stay positive and remember to prepare thoroughly before calling universities and colleges for an intelligent discussion about the courses you’re interested in. You’ll find all the information you need about Clearing on UCAS.com.”

Last year 495,595 people secured a place at university or college through UCAS, with a record 57,100 being accepted through Clearing.

Student accommodation provider Portergate is getting set to welcome the new intake of undergraduates to its acclaimed Riverside House in Salford later this year.

Quality is key to Portergate’s approach. Riverside House has a boutique feel, with modern, stylish kitchens and bathrooms.

Each luxury apartment includes fully-furnished living space and fitted kitchen complete with appliances. Bedrooms are also fully furnished and have broadband internet.

Riverside is within walking distance of the University of Salford, which is only minutes away. And it is also well-placed for all that Manchester city centre has to offer in amenities and the city’s excellent transport links.
