New Dean of Students is a welcome move

Student accommodation provider Portergate Property Management has welcomed the appointment of a Dean of Student’s at the University of Salford.

Portergate, which offers boutique-style accommodation at its acclaimed Riverside House property in Salford, says the move will help enhance the experience of students at the nearby campus.

The university has announced that Sam Grogan has been appointed to the newly-created role of Dean of Students. He will start in the role in May.

In a statement on its official website the university says the role was established to respond to student feedback.

And it adds the new Dean will work closely with the Students’ Union to find ways of increasing student satisfaction in an environment where they can meet their full potential.

Currently Director of Higher Education at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, Sam’s focus has been teaching, learning and the student experience.

He told the website: “I’m looking forward to joining the university and working with students and staff on developments that continue to help shape the university experience as one of profound personal and professional growth for all learners.

“The links with industry and the ongoing emphasis on the real-world application of research and knowledge are part of what makes me excited to be joining Salford. I can’t wait to get started.”

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Helen Marshall, told the website: “We are delighted to welcome Sam to the University of Salford.

“Sam has a great track record in the areas we are focused on around the student experience, and we are very much looking forward to having Sam on the team.”
