Students are turning their back on the ‘Young Ones’ experience and increasingly looking at the lifestyle luxury accommodation like Riverside House in Salford delivers, a new report shows.
It reveals that growing numbers of university students are shunning sharing houses and instead are looking to Riverside House’s high standard of accommodation for their second and third years of study.
Undergraduates also aim to get “more of a lifestyle” from their accommodation, according to an article on the Mail Online website.
So that means less of them are prepared to put up with the standard of digs seen in the cult 1980s BBC comedy The Young Ones, which starred Rik Mayall and Ade Edmundson as students.
The Mail Online reports that the number of university students living in privately owned halls across the UK has doubled in seven years, according to the Higher Education Statistics Agency.
The HESA said that between 2007 and 2014, numbers increased from 46,000 to 102,000, with experts are forecasting the trend will continue.
And estate agent Knight Frank is quoted in the report revealing that private halls are becoming more popular because they offered the convenience of rent costs inclusive of bills, enhanced internet access and a secure environment.
Riverside House, Salford’s number one student accommodation, certainly ticks all those boxes.
And demand for its luxury en-suite student apartments, which start from just £125 per week including all bills, continues to grow.
Each en-suite luxury apartment includes fully-furnished living space and fitted kitchen complete with appliances. Bedrooms are also fully furnished and high speed WiFi is available throughout the ultra-modern building.
Riverside House is within walking distance of the University of Salford, just minutes away.
And it is also well-placed for all that Manchester city centre has to offer in amenities and the city’s excellent transport links.
The emerging nightlife scene of Salford’s Greenbank Quarter is on its doorstep, while the vibrant cafes and bars of Manchester’s Cathedral Quarter and Deansgate are also within a 15 minute walk or a short bus journey.
Security and service are paramount at Riverside House. It has a day time house manager, 24-hour concierge and on-site maintenance. For personal security, each floor and all rooms are accessed by swipe card.
Students at Riverside House enjoy boutique hotel-style quality at affordable prices, with no hidden extras. So it is little wonder demand is high.
Riverside House is also an official accredited member of Manchester Student Homes, a free university-led housing service for students.
Steve Walker, Hall Manager at Riverside House, says: “We are proud to offer what we believe is the best accommodation in Salford at really affordable prices.”
